More Than Crumbs

A poll about kitchen storage

You know how frustrating it is when your Tupperware or Rubbermaid or other brand plastic kitchen containers don’t match up? So annoying.

So about 2 years ago (guessing?) I bought some pyrex containers that all matched and were enough for our needs. And that was nice.

But what was surprising was the sense of calm I felt when I opened the cupboard and they were all neatly stacked, with the lids ready to go. Wow!

And now I’m thinking of taking some or all of them to Portugal. But if I send them in the container they won’t be there for a while, and we’ll have to buy something else in the interim. And the other option is to carry them in my luggage. We will take extra luggage, but it will mean I can’t take something else.

Or, of course, find a whole new set when we get there. It is not like they are expensive.

I guess I’ve just been “afraid” that won’t happen and I’ll be left with a mishmash of kitchen storage again.

Maybe I don’t need a poll after all. I just have to be able to ask for what I want.

    You could put a few in the luggage with clothing in them. They would add weight but you wouldn’t loose space that way. Just an idea.

      Thank you, Nan! There will definitely be some items we pack in the luggage cushioned by clothes!

    Tell me more about what the container is, and what else will be stored there. I would probably buy new ones, because the thought of carrying them in my luggage sounds like more of a workout than I’d be prepared to deal with!

      When I was going on a trip to Europe with my parents, they made it very clear that I would be carrying my own luggage, and not to rely on luggage carts! It taught me to pack light… most of the time!

    Why not pack one or two in sizes that you use most , then ship the rest. Do without for a short time before you have to search for something in a new country!

      I will have to write about what makes the cut to go into the luggage! I figured that they were more easily replaced than some other more personal items!
