We had about 3 weeks between choosing a realtor and putting the house on the market. Even though we have been giving away and selling stuff for months, there was still a lot to do.
We worked hard and did a good job of cleaning out the house for the open house. Compare the above picture as it is now, to bookshelves below in their previous state!
Just in two rooms – the living room and dining room/library – we got rid of a couch, two IKEA Poang chairs, 2 side tables. two large rugs, multiple stringed instruments, and the cabinet we keep the TV on. And of course, additional books since I wrote Books, books, and fewer books!
The blue chairs were moved to the living room, leaving the dining room with only my standing desk and chair for work from home. Previously in the living room, we had gotten rid of the maildrop table, the aquarium, its cabinet, a coffee table, and a huge recliner.
We hired a cleaning service to do a deep clean and a landscaper to whip the yard into shape. Paula cleaned up the workshop. I cleaned the fridge. It was calming to have things so clean and settled!
Paula had the idea to rent a storage area so that we didn’t have to make all the decisions before the house went on the market. I was a little skeptical at first, but I’m so glad we did. I get tired and stressed when faced with too many choices. And a cranky Serafina is not happy or fun to be around.
There is so much more to talk about, but that will have to be another post! If you want more right now, my Maximouser to the Rescue! post isn’t about quite about decision fatigue but is a little related.
