Middle Bedroom, without beds

Guest Bedroom

We are fortunate to have three bedrooms, and our apartment is quite large for two people, by Portuguese standards.

When we had the video walk-through of the apartment, we were told that they would remove any furniture that we did not want. But now the landlord is balking. The agent is still looking into it, but realistically we may need to find places for the extra armoirs and beds we don’t want.

Yesterday we took apart the beds and my wife took them and the mattresses down to our small storage area on one of the parking levels. I joked that we should put some of the stuff in the parking spot we are not using.

That leaves the middle bedroom, shown above, ready to set up for guests. On the right, you can see a corner of the desk. On the very left is the doorway, then an armoire. (Is armoire a common word? It is a large free-standing clothes cupboard with a clothes rod and drawers. They were more common before built-in closets were added to bedrooms.)

The “fun” thing here is that there are built-in closets in two bedrooms but also multiple storage cabinets of various kinds! They make the bedrooms feel pretty cramped. See the cabinets here!

We were hoping to have that armoire taken away and move a different armoire from the third bedroom into the guest bedroom. That would free up room in the third bedroom, which we’re using as an office, and make it more comfortable and spacious.

We will see what happens with our request to move extra furniture. We will be able to make it work either way.

But I’m so happy to have the middle bedroom ready to start furnishing for guest visits! We have our first one at the end of this month!

Do you have any rooms you have changed up lately?

That’s a beautiful room! I love the floor and window. We did do a little work in one room, we added some shelving to our office closet, so we have more room to store things.
