Vintage Motorcycle needing restoration

One Down, Three to Go

This week, my wife sold her 1969 Vintage British Motorcycle, named Penelope. It was bittersweet for her and a little for me too.

I remember watching Paula get on that motorcycle and ride it down the street, following a 1950’s theme party. I remember riding it up the steep hill to my house, holding onto her for dear life, falling in love. With Paula, not the motorcycle. Well, a little of both, maybe… see picture above with other motorcycles, two of which are mine.

Years later, the BSA needs to be restored, and Paula decided it was time to let it go to someone that was interested in doing that … along with a tool box full of special Wentworth tools, and all her parts in bins.

Physically, Penelope did take up space in the workshop and the back porch, but so much more space emotionally. It was a big step for Paula to let Penelope go. It had been a dream for Paula to restore the BSA herself, so it is sad. But she says it is the biggest thing for her to let go of on the way to Portugal, and now we’ve really started the ride.
