The stack of boxes and bins above is close to the footprint of one of the two pallets we are shipping to Portugal.
Aside from what we take on the plane, the two pallets will hold all our belongings. So basically what you see in the picture, plus another layer of two bins. Then double that – about 170 cubic feet.
Everything we are taking for our new life in Portugal.
It’s not much – and yet it is enough. So freeing! It feels good to let go of things that I don’t want or need once I leave here.
To be sure, getting everything organized and into the final bins has been quite an exhausting journey. With us both working, we were not able to pack things once, into their final boxes, and be done with it. So we moved boxes from the house to the storage area and the (so, so tiny) AirBnB.
We did upsize from one pallet to 2 – which will allow us to take the electric keyboard and not be quite so careful and ruthless in the packing. Adding the 2nd pallet was deeply discounted over the price for one.
So it is a balancing act.
I wish I had time to talk about all that went into the cycle of stuff from the house to its final destination, but alas, there is much to do.
