You might be wondering why I created More Than Crumbs, especially if you’ve visited me over on Turtlewords.
My interest in simplicity and self-care have grown from a personal goal to a desire to help others. I have been interested in simplicity since the mid 90’s, when I read the book Your Money or Your Life, which proposed the idea that more might not be better. That I was fine not keeping up with the Jones, which I didn’t have a desire to do anyway.
Minimalism is all the rage right now. And as the new take on simplicity, I think it is pretty good. There are some extreme examples and I’ve heard there are some Instagrammers using it as an excuse to buy luxury items and flaunt their wealth. But overall, I’ve seen thoughtful takes on minimalism.
My goal is to get my environment (house, car, desk – the things I have control over) to a state where they enhance my life, not detract from it. To get my inner being to a similar state. And to keep them that way. Experiencing joy, open to adventure, and able to easily manage what comes my way, good or bad.

I’m writing this during the COVID-19 pandemic and after the US election in 2020. Though I occasionally decluttered before now, those two things heightened my awareness of how though I love my house, I don’t love all the stuff in it.
I was reaching out to people on Facebook, but it isn’t a good way to reach people consistently. So: here I am. If you want to get an update every time I post, use the blue box to subscribe. You will be able to opt-out at any time.
